“....the setting, a dance studio in a low income housing project. The stars, several
hundred kids, age four and up.
The scenario, a dance program, free and heartfelt. (teacher, Carol Zee): 'We're
serving such a need in the community. There's many, many children who need this
sort of activity, and dance means the arts, it gives them selfesteem and
expression...I'm so happy to be a part of it.' The program...is the inspiration of Liza
Bercovici whose 13 year old daughter was killed several years ago in a biking
accident. (Liza): 'Gabri loved to dance...I thought that doing something like this
would be a way of continuing Gabri's life in a way that she couldn't anymore. In a
way, it was the last thing I could do for my kid.' The program has proved immensely
popular. The classes are full, and there is a long waiting list. Looking on, friends and
families. (Beatrice Briggs, mother): 'I used to be a dancer, so I wanted my children to
be able to dance and enjoy the experience and just have a good time.”
