George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker
Performed by MIAMI CITY BALLET … with help from everybody dance!

Delight in the storybook holiday fairytale that captures the spirit of the season through the magic of a child’s imagination. It is Christmas Eve. A blanket of snow covers the ground, a bright Christmas star glows in the sky, and Marie and her Nutcracker Prince are about to embark on an unexpected journey to a winter wonderland of enchantment! And everybody dance! students are about to perform at The Music Center for the very first time!

For six performances from December 7 to 10, The Music Center is bringing back a holiday tradition with a world premiere of the new George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® by Miami City Ballet. The holiday classic, with Balanchine’s iconic choreography, features all-new sets and costumes by Cuban-American artist/designer power couple Isabel and Ruben Toledo. Strengthening The Music Center’s ties with L.A.-based artists, performances will include, for the first time, student dancers from two L.A. arts academies —The Gabriella Foundation’s everybody dance! and The Colburn School — while the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus provides live vocals. A live orchestra will play Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky’s timeless score.

See our students on the big stage! Come to The Music Center in December … The new George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® is the perfect winter celebration!
